News | OME T-01, the first geothermal power plant wholly owned by the Group in Turkey, is about to achieve COD

Kaishan Group Corporation's OME T-01 geothermal power plant in Alasehir, Manissa Province, Turkey, successfully completed a three-day acceptance test step by the Turkish Ministry of Energy on 26-28 November, and as a result, the plant is on the verge of achieving COD on 1 January 2025, accordingly.
The OME T-01 power plant, with an installed capacity of 11 MW, is Kaisan's first wholly-owned geothermal power plant to be commissioned in Turkey. Kaisan acquired the project in December 2020 and started construction in mid-2023 due to the outbreak of the epidemic, and the YEKDEM (Renewable Energy Support Mechanism) registration of the power plant will be completed next week after completion of the acceptance process. The power plant will be sold at the Turkish New Energy Fixed Feed-In-Tariff (9.45-11.55 US cents/kWh for geothermal power)for a period of 15 years starting from 1 January 2025.The plant is expected to be commissioned by the end of this year, and it is expected to be commissioned in the next few months
.

It is understood that the maximum net outgoing power during the acceptance process was 4.8 megawatts (MW), which fell short of the designed net generating power. The main reason for the failure of the power station to consistently operate and produce at design conditions was limited by the lack of recharge capacity. The resource team is now beginning to investigate why the recharge rate during production was only 400 tonnes per hour, while the recharge capacity during testing of the recharge wells was able to meet the design requirement of 690 tonnes per hour, and a solution will be developed.
